Feb  21. 5 pm - Georgia's newly elected U.S. Senator and Savannahian, the Reverend Raphael Warnock, will engage with youth in a forum, "Reform - A Discussion by U.S. Senator and the Youth Leaders. “Textiles” by the acclaimed artist Sonja Robinson opens as the headlining fine art exhibition for the 32nd Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival presented by Savannah State University with investment from the City of Savannah. “Textiles", will be on display  throughout the month of February in Room 137 of the Social Science Building on the campus of Savannah State University.

Mayor of Savannah, Van R. Johnson II, welcomes the residents of Savannah, as well as our online audience, to the beginning of the 32nd Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival. He speaks on the History of the festival, events in 2020, welcomes Rev. Raphael Warnock as the first black U.S. Senator from Georgia and lets us know the best in Black History is yet to come. Enjoy this year's virtual festival.

SSU Interim President Kimberly Ballard-Washington Greetings

Interim President Kimberly Ballard-Washington welcomes the residents of Savannah, as well as our online audience, to the beginning of the 32nd Annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival. This year’s Black Heritage theme is Reflect, Reform, Rejoice. These three words represent the history of African Americans as they marched from enslavement to freedom to contributors. Since this trek has been long and arduous, what has been accomplished embodies reformation that upon reflection is cause to rejoice!
